Ahead of the ECOWAS Heads of States Meeting in Abuja, Nigeria, the African Network of Constitutional Lawyers (ANCL) represented by Ms Henrietta Ekefre attended a two-day civic mobilisation campaign against presidential term limit elongation organised by the West African Democracy Solidarity Network (WADEMOS) in partnership with various regional non-state actors, civil society organisations and the media.
As part of the campaign, on Friday, 8th December 2023, Ms Ekefre presented at a roundtable discussion on 'Political Reforms and Term Elongations in West Africa: The Impact on Democracy and Human Rights Abuse in West Africa'. On Saturday, 9 December 2023, WADEMOS, Tournons La Page (TLP), and the ANCL held a press conference as part of the campaign for term limits where Ms Ekefre presented a study written developed by the ANCL in Collaboration with TPL on 'Policy and legislative mechanisms for promoting presidential term limits within ECOWAS'.
