Participants that require visa support documents should register immediately and indicate before April 23. All other participants must register by April 30, 2026


PRIOR TO DEPARTURE:
Please ensure you do the following prior to the start of your travel:
1. Print out a copy of your flight itinerary.
2. Ensure your passport is valid for more than six months.
3. Talk to your doctor about any medical issues or concerns and remember to pack any medications (and corresponding doctor’s notes, when applicable) that you may need during your travels.
4. Make copies of your passport(s) and visa(s) and place them in a secure location apart from where you would likely keep the originals. Write down the emergency numbers including international collect numbers) for any credit cards in case they are lost or stolen. Write down emergency numbers for contacts while you are traveling and keep these in a safe place (in case your phone is lost or stolen).

Familiarize yourself, as outlined in the guide above, with any cultural, religious and or sexual taboos such as types of clothing, medicine (including recreational drugs), exposed tattoos, piercings, etc. which may not be only inappropriate, but illegal as well.

TRANSPORTATION:
Transportation to and from Airport/Hotel:
➢ The University of Ilorin, hosts of the conference and ANCL have arranged for your transportation from the airport to the hotel on the date (9th June) of your arrival, as well as from the hotel to the airport on the date of your departure (13th June) from Lagos and Ilorin.
➢ When you arrive in Lagos or Abuja, please look for someone carrying a sign reading "ANCL Conference." A shuttle will transport you and other travelers arriving near the same time to the hotel in Lagos or Abuja together.
➢ Kindly note that we plan to transport all those arriving/leaving around the same time together, so there may be some waiting period. The same shuttle will transport you to the airport in the morning for your flight to Ilorin.
➢ All participants coming in via Abuja MUST TAKE A LOCAL FLIGHT TO ILORIN while participants coming in via Lagos may consider road transportation (A shuttle will be available to transport you).

TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM HOTEL/CONFERENCE VENUE:
A University shuttle will pick all participants from their hotels at a specific time to the conference venue at the University of Ilorin. There should be open access to the venue for conference participants. You are advised to keep to time, or you may have to arrange your own transportation to the conference venue.

SECURITY:
While Ilorin is generally a safe destination, we advise that you limit sharing information on your specific hotel or hotel room. Do not keep late nights, it is advised that you walk with volunteers during the conference if you need to go into the town. Crime rates in Ilorin are moderate by West African standards. In Lagos and Abuja, petty theft, such as pickpocketing and bag snatching, is common, particularly in crowded areas and markets. While violent crime is relatively low, instances of robbery have been reported. Visitors are advised to remain vigilant, avoid displaying valuables, and steer clear of large crowds, political gatherings, and street demonstrations to ensure their safety. CONFERENCE VENUE:
The conference will take place at the Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin, which is inside the Main Campus of the University.

MEALS:
The organizers have arranged lunch and refreshments throughout the conference dates. A light reception will also be provided on the evening of 10 June, and a gala dinner on 13 June.

VISA:
Based on your nationality, you should be able to enter Nigeria either visa-free or by acquiring a visa upon arrival. Kindly inform us immediately if you require support letters to facilitate your visa. LOCAL TRAVEL/SECURITY:
All transportation within Ilorin for program events will be provided by the conference organizers. All travelers should take appropriate precautions while outside the hotel and keep someone apprised of their location.


When exploring your surroundings, consult with maps, GPS, and hotel staff for the safest directions. Go with others whenever possible and try not to be visible with valuables such as cash, jewelry, etc. Carry a handbag over your shoulder away from traffic and always maintain situational awareness.


Please keep your personal property in your possession at all times and be alert to your immediate surroundings. Laptops, mobile phones, and cameras are especially vulnerable to theft. The ANCL or the University of Ilorin dos not assume responsibility for any damage or loss of personal effects (e.g. luggage, personal funds, cameras, laptop computers) for staff, trainers, delegates, or volunteers.


Unfortunately, in some countries, there is added risk for LGBTQ+ travelers given local laws and cultural norms that are outside ANCL’s control. Resources available at Harvard Global Support Services, Equaldex and ILGA may be helpful to understand those risks. Travelers can also contact ISOS at any time prior to their trip for confidential advice.

WEATHER:
The climate in Nigeria, in June is raining season, rainfall is expected, and temperatures generally range between 18-26 degrees Celsius. It is advisable to wear light clothing, especially if you spend extended periods outdoors.

CURRENCY:
The national currency of Nigeria is Naira. Consult https://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/ for an idea of the exchange rate. You can do your currency exchange at the airport or in Ilorin.

The standard voltage in Nigeria is 220 V

PUBLICATIONS:
Participants should prepare their full papers in line with the Chicago reference style. Papers selected
after a peer review process will be published. More details of the publication process will be communicated during the conference. Draft papers should be about 7,000 words and would be submitted one month after the conference for review processes.
