About:
David Tinashe Hofisi is a doctoral candidate with the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he is investigating the emergence of Constitutional Courts in common law Africa. He spent seven years as a Senior Projects lawyer with Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights. He has handled numerous public interest cases and argued before the Constitutional Court of Zimbabwe. He is a 2015 Mandela Washington Fellow under the Young African Leaders Initiative. He also holds certificates in Constitution-Building in Africa and Strategic Human Rights Litigation from the Central European University in Hungary.He completed a scholarship on the role of private law in land investment deals at the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) and co-presented a paper at the 8th Viterbo Global Administrative Law Seminar in Rome, Italy. He coordinated the Civil Society Monitoring Mechanism and in that capacity, presented several papers on constitutional reform including before Parliamentary Portfolio Committees, at the local United States Embassy and at USAID Harare. Mr Hofisi is the holder of a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) Degree from the University of Zimbabwe and a Masters’ Degree in Rule of Law for Development from the Rome Centre of Loyola University (Chicago).
