Thomas is interested in political rights issues, both domestically and abroad. In 2010, he served as an intern for the White House's Domestic Policy Council, where he worked under Senior Policy Advisor for Native American Affairs Kim Teehee. Thomas' other previous work experience includes internships with the Washington, D.C.-based law firm Kellogg Huber, the Special Court for Sierra Leone, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and The Carter Center. An avid basketball player, Thomas played for the University of Cape Town and coached eleven and twelve year-olds during college. Thomas is currently in his fourth year of a JD/MPA program with Stanford Law School and Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School. He holds a B.A. from the University of South Carolina, where he studied African development and was a Harry S. Truman Scholar.
